Louisiana Marine & Motorcycle Dealer's Association

The Marine Trades Association of Louisiana was organized in 1973 to provide the industry with an effective organization for working toward goals of fair legislation and profitable promotion of the sport of pleasure boating.

From its initial organization in an hour of crisis, the Association has broadened its scope to conduct an extensive program of membership services and benefits. Since its formation, the Association has been effective in establishing territory laws for marine dealers, writing boat and motor titling legislation, and supporting legislation to help promote safety and responsible boating, and modifying regulations proposed by the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and other governmental agencies.

In 1993 the La Marine Trades Association merged with the La Motorcycle Association to become the Louisiana Marine and Motorcycle Trades Association. In late 2010 the LMMTA restructured itself again, now called the Louisiana Marine and Motorcycle Dealers' Association (LMMDA), and hired Eric Sunstrom of The Chesapeake Group as their new executive director.

Even today your dealership continues to be affected by important changes. In 2009 Louisiana gave oversight of our industry to the Louisiana New Car Commission.

Now more than ever, your participation in the Louisiana Marine and Motorcycle Dealers' Association is a smart investment in the future of your business. Remember, the Louisiana Marine and Motorcycle Dealers' Association is the only trade association in the state to exclusively represent the business interests of marine and motorcycle dealers. Working with state and federal legislators, agencies and commissions, customers and the general public; LMMDA is YOUR REPRESENTATIVE!
